I thought I'd have more access to a computer while in Houston but I didn't this time. I'm now sporting a super port (I didn't know they came in "regular" or "super".) I think it just means I'll get more than the average sticks. We got home about 11:00 PM last night and go back for the next round in 3 weeks. Dr. Green (oncologist) thinks I'll be on chemo for 4 1/2 to 6 months (until they get the best result they can from it) and then they'll consider a stem cell transplant. I'll get the testing done in 6 weeks to see if the chemo is working--I won't be a candidate for the transplant if the chemo isn't working. The stem cell transplant means 2 1/2 months in Houston during the school year. Three weeks of that in the hospital and the rest at an apt. with a caretaker (someone who can drive you to the ER if you need to go). Seems like an awesome undertaking. Thanks so much for the phone calls (I don't always catch them but I love hearing your encouraging words on the recorder), cards, meals, flowers, and on and on.

  1. Cathy,

I think of you and am praying for you every day.

When you feel up to it, would you mind sharing more about your cancer? I am assuming that the breast cancer returned, but I only know what you have shared on your blog so far.

I'm out of the loop, but at the same time I hate to ask.

    Love,
    Dana

  3. Dear Cathy,

I need to check my typing before I post because there's no edit feature (re: deleted post above).

Never mind about the update :)

I had a wonderful conversation with Randy last night, and he shared what has been happening over the last several months.

I'm also so glad you are going to MD Anderson - you are in good hands there.

    Love,
    Dana

  4. Cathy,
It was great to hear your voice and laughter yesterday. You left me with a big smile on my face (you always have a way of doing that!) I continue to pray for you and the boys (or should I say men....I'm getting the feeling that Wes really likes the ladies!) Hugs and kisses!
