Odds

Testing to find out the chemo's effectiveness is Monday. For 60% of the people in this situation it works and decreases the cancer. In 40%, it doesn't. I asked Dr. Green what we do if I'm in the 40% and she said, "God forbid! We'll have to see if we can find you a clinical trial for those who don't respond to the chemo." My money is on being in the 60% group. When you become accustomed to bad news though it's hard not to let those images haunt you.

On a better note, I've been showered with prayers, housekeepers, food, friends, cards, good books. I am continually amazed and thankful.

  1. "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."
    Colossians 3:1-3

This was obviously written by a man with no children...
But, since it was written under the direction of the Holy Spirit we women have to try to follow the command and trust the Holy
Spirit to give us enough mind control to redirect our thoughts from our kids to Jesus who holds our kids in the palm of his hand.

What I am trying to get into my heart is that whatever the report is--it is good news because you are a precious princess of the King and he is working out the best for you and your precious family. I am praying "thy will be done" and trying to really mean it...

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:26-28

And I am reminding myself that there is absolutely nothing to worry about for your family or mine and worry is fear and faith abolishes fear.

"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15

Phil says we can change our feelings by changing the (actually he says "tapes", but I guess that is out dated and we should say the "CD's" or "mp3 downloads") that run through our minds. I think I'll print out this great advice and try rewriting my mp3 downloads!

But of course, you know I never have hesitated to give my opinion, so I have give the Lord a LOT of advice about how this report should come out. :-D

I love you and Randy and Will and Wess and am holding you close in my heart and prayers!

Your old roomie and forever friend,
    Karol

Cathy, I'm so excited that you had good news yesterday. I know you will share more later, but I'm so happy for you. Wanted to say something while it was on my mind.
